About Me
Firstly I'm no expert on Ashburnham!
I'll help where I can - I've read a few books and had a few visits to the East Sussex Record Office. For a few years I've been collecting together any interesting bits I can find about Ashburnham and Penhurst. I've been very lucky to receive photos and information from visitors to my websites (I do love the internet!) and to have a few bits still in the family from my grandfather.
I was brought up in Ashburnham and my mother's family have lived in Ashburnham for nearly 250 years, her maiden name of Hobden was a common family name in the village until the late 1970s (anyone interested in my Hobden family tree can access it at the Rootsweb website)
I have the books mentioned in the Recommended Reading above, and I also have the census information for Ashburnham and the surrounding area for 1841, 1851 and 1881. I'm happy to provide any help I can from these sources.
I apologise if I've infringed anybody's copyright - please contact me if you would like anything removed from my site, or if you have any photos or stories to share!
